After graduating from the Kuwasawa Design School, Ueda began working freelance, and since 2016 has worked steadily as a cover artist and illustrator for Japanese literary publishers and magazines. The figures are usually girls or young women, drawn with a light, even line and placed in sparse, still settings, with the focus on a small gesture, a pause or the passage of time. Ueda has drawn magazine covers for \u003cem\u003eEureka\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eMdN\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eMinpo\u003c\/em\u003e, illustrations for the music videos of AKROGLAM and ISEKI, and key visuals for clients such as Valve, Shiseido China and KITTE Nagoya, and was featured in \u003cem\u003eILLUSTRATION 2018\u003c\/em\u003e (Shoeisha).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eUeda's first solo exhibition, \u003cem\u003eKyou\u003c\/em\u003e (Today), was held at 9DAYS GALLERY, Shibuya Modi, Tokyo, in 2023.
